I am a Figurative Arts painter with an Abstract Flair, Art Educator based in Rhodes, Greece with my husband and teenage daughter. I hold a Bachelor's Degree in Fine Art from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. My studio is based in a light- filled room overlooking my garden from which I draw inspiration and serenity.  Painting offers me the chance to express the beauty I see in both Greek landscapes and people's expressions therefore my principal theme is nature and portraiture. My highest goal is to create a moment of stillness followed by an emotion in my viewer’s eyes. My favourite medium is watercolours, with which I fell in love with during the 2020 pandemic. Previously, I made figurative and almost abstract art pieces, using acrylic paints as my medium. As an exhibiting member and founder of the local art group VAN GeNS we have held exhibitions in order to promote the work of local artists in collaboration with local organizations.

Agnes Geets

Image
Agnes Geets, born in Mechelen, Belgium, is now based in Duffel, Belgium.  Throughout her life she always loved drawing but around 13 years ago, she got fascinated by watercolors after seeing a painting exhibited in the hallway of the hospital and decided to make a start in this wonderful medium.  A challenge, because she had to divide her time between her daily job, family and then painting.    Mainly self-taught, Agnes started to participate each year in a workshop given by a renowned artist.  It taught her to hone her natural ability and skills, influenced and inspired by them, making her the artist she is today.   The subjects Agnes paints are varied, but figure and portrait painting are her first love and her main strength. She is fascinated by how light and shadow can express features in a face and always tries to capture the personality.     Agnes is member of AIB, the Belgian watercolorsociety and IWS Belgium

Howard Eberle AWS, NWS

Howard Eberle is a self- taught American watercolorist who uses drybrush to create the realistic detail found in his paintings. Eberle is a Signature member of the American Watercolor Society, National Watercolor Society, Transparent Watercolor Society of America, Watercolor USA Honor Society, Pennsylvania Watercolor Society and Watercolor Society of North Carolina. He is also an elected member of the Allied Artists of America. Born in Baltimore, Maryland, he moved to Pennsylvania for a career as a department store display director. It's an art where regret is impossible. I love the spontaneity, this osmosis between water and colour, this evanescence, this impalpable something, this continuously renewed challenge.   Being an enthusiast of large formats wich allow total liberty of movement, I just have to exploit the unexpected and let go. Everything that evokes an emotion can be painted. This medium is so subtle It lets us dream in the deepest parts of our subconscious, and there lies the pleasure and that is everything...

Marie Françoise Ingels

Image
I started watercolor about 10 years ago. This quickly turned into a real passion with a thirst to learn and practice. My work is sometimes towards the figurative and sometimes towards abstraction where I completely free my imagination which allows me to find a very personal style of expression. My artistic practice is an essential source of freedom; working with water requires  " let go ". Whether in the wet, on fully or partially wet paper, the pigment spreads, diffuses, mixes with others, finds its way in unpredictable ways. I particularly like those moments when the mixtures are made, sometimes unraveled without my knowing it ... when the unexpected arises and where beauty is to be grasped just there when it passes ... Making nature our ally and accepting with great humility our complementarity also reveals all our possibilities, our beauty at the same time as hers. With it, as in any human relationship, making an alliance, becoming an accomplice and complementary can thus

Brenda Tenk

Image
My name is Brenda Tenk from the Philippines.  I   always loved to draw and sketch. I learned that from my dad and from art teachers who always starts you off with basic sketching.  The first medium I learnt to use was oil.  Then, I shifted to acrylic because most of my friends were into it in Ghana.   But, when I came back to the Philippines,  I shifted to watercolor as it does not irritate my allergies. In my travels, I was always fascinated by great artists I see in the museums. Mentally, as I go through the museums in Holland and Germany and England, I asked myself, can I do what they are doing?     I like the colors of Gaughin and Van Gogh so I go for the yellows, the orange and the turquoise.     I use it often too in my paintings.     Like any other new artist I have tried different subjects, but, I always drawn to painting     faces, animals and birds.     I was always fascinated on expressions.     So I put emotions to my paintings be it people or animals or scene. Most often,

LORRAINE DIETRICH SCA

CHRISTA FRIEDL

Image
My preference has always been to express my feelings and impressions through drawing and painting. I attended the artistic community college in Vienna and took part in advanced courses of European and American artists, to expand my artistic perspective. Living part of the year in Europe (Vienna) and part in the US (Florida) I try to express the beauty that I see around me. I love the wonderful sense of freedom and slightly controlled chaos that watercolor provides.   All of my paintings begin with choosing a subject, whether I am on location or painting in the studio.  I look for interesting shapes, designs, and light patterns or meaningful interpretations. After a small value sketch where I plan my composition, I lightly draw on my paper for a general guideline.  As I apply paint, I look for inspiration in the scene, in the people I see, and in the paint on the paper.  I start to look less and less at the scene in front of me and more at my evolving painting.  This helps me to focus l
