Selma Todorova
Selma was born in Sofia, Bulgaria. She finished the National High School of Fine Arts in 1981 and graduated Master, from the National Art Academy, Sofia, in 1989.
Selma has a wide spectrum of professional and art interests and paints both watercolor and oil painting, and has more than 50 solo exhibitions in Bulgaria and abroad.
Selma has participated in many TV shows, collective exhibitions, art symposiums and forums in Bulgaria, Macedonia, Serbia, Albania, Romania, Italy, Spain, India, Pakistan, China, Bangladesh, Hong Kong, UAE, Peru, Mexico, Kosta Rica, Nepal, Ukraine, Czech Republic, Indonesia, Vietnam, Thailand, Korea, Taiwan, Morocco, South Africa, Turkey, Cité des Arts – Paris, France and the USA. Selma teaches drawing and painting. She has been honored with many national and international awards for watercolor, oil painting, the design of clothes and lifetime achievement. Selma is a member of the jury in international competitions, the Union of the Bulgarian Artists, and AIAP.
Selma Todorova is head of IWS Bulgaria and curator of the International Watercolor Triennial - Varna, Bulgaria - 2016, 2019 and International Watercolor Youth Festival – Plovdiv, 2019. She is organizer of the International Watelcolor Simposium – Belogradchik, 2016, 2017 , Watercolor Simposium in the center Sushma, Mukteshwar, India – 2015, 2019 with exhibitions “India Ala Prima I and II” and curator of the project with 20 prominent Bulgarian artists, dedicated to the 150 years of Gandhi`s birth (2019-2020). “Mahatma Gandhi: The Vigour of Truth”.
Her paintings are owned by many institutions such as the Ministry of Culture - Republic of Bulgaria; the National Assembly of the Republic of Bulgaria; the Municipality of Sliven, Bulgaria; the Union of the Bulgarian Artists; as well as City Art Galleries, Watercolor Museums, Embassies, and collectors in many countries. Her portraits of historical personalities are in the galleries, reception halls and representative offices around Bulgaria.
