Angus McEwan RWS, NWS

Angus McEwan was born in Dundee, Scotland and studied at Duncan of Jordanstone College Art, graduating in Fine Art and printmaking with a Post Graduate Diploma in the same discipline. He also has a Merit in a teaching Certificate- Post Graduate Certificate in Secondary Education, Scotland.

Angus was elected to the Royal Scottish Society of Painters in Watercolours, (RSW) in 1995 and in 2012 a full member of the Royal Watercolour Society, (RWS). He is also an associate member of the AWS and NWS in the USA. In 2016 he was elected member of the Royal Glasgow Institute (RGI) and in 2018 Angus was elected a signatory member of the Australian Watercolour Institute (AWI).


Angus' work is in many private collections throughout the world, including United Kingdom, Norway, Netherlands, Australia, Turkey, Italy, China Russia, and North America.

He has had 21 solo exhibitions, numerous collective shows and has been recognized in many shows by winning over 30 awards. He has also held watercolour workshops and demonstrations in Scotland, Germany, Italy (Fabriano, Vicenza, Bologna), Moscow, Guangzhou, Seattle, San Diego, Bulgaria, Germany, France And Portugal in the past two years. Angus Has also been a judge for many competitions including, the Marche d’Acqua in Fabriano, John Constable Prize in Lima, Peru and more recently the Abu Rawash Prize, as well as numerous International Watercolour Society Exhibitions. 


In 2018 Angus received a 3rd place award at the ARC Salon Competition (the largest and most prestigious Competition in the Western world for realist Art) for a landscape painting, “Shroud of Qingdao” and an honourable mention in the still life category for “Tea Break”. Shroud of Qingdao will be Exhibited in the 13th International ARC Salon Travelling Exhibition showing in New York, Los Angeles and Barcelona, 2018/19. In 2018 Angus was elected member of the Australian Watercolour Institute (AWI). In 2019 Angus was finalist with 2 paintings in the PleinAir Salon and won “Best Vehicle” Prize with “Beating Heart of China” also in the PleinAir Salon. Angus also had an honourable mention in the still life Category in the 14th Annual ARC Salon, USA. In 2020 Angus was awarded the “SDWS Honouring the 25th Anniversary of San Diego Market Street Group Artists Award” and elected a member of the SDWS. In 2021 Angus was elected a member of the National Watercolour Society (NWS) in California, USA.
